Notes on the excursion to the Golden Rock:
You go up using the pilgrim trucks, crammed with sooito, and with a narrow bench as a seat. The climb is fast on the hairpin bends. Otherwise, you can take the cable car (extra cost)
A backpack / duffel bag: leave your suitcase in Yangon and bring only a backpack or a small bag with you need for the overnight stay
Porterage: if you decide to bring your suitcases anyway, you can use porters on site *. The price varies depending on the location of your hotel. (* charges are your responsibility) • Hotel Golden Rock (about 6 minutes walk from the first van stop - Yeataetaung) is located about 45 minutes walk from the top of Golden Rock. About 7000-8000Ks per porter / one way • Hotel Mountain Top Hotel (about 5 minutes walk from the second van stop) Both hotels are located near the Golden Rock About 3000-5000ks per porter / one way (from 2 to 4 suitcases maximum, depending on the size)
EXTENSION FROM YANGON at the end of each tour
BAGO & ROCCIA D'ORO with return to the international airport (without sleeping in Yangon)
DAY 1 - HEHO or LOIKAW / YANGON - BAGO – KYAIKTHYIO
Arrival at Yangon airport. Continuation by private vehicle to visit Kyaikthyio, the "Golden Rock", about 180 km from Yangon (4 hours by road), a mountain considered sacred with a large mass of gold sheets wonderfully balanced on the edge of a rock. On top of the boulder there is a small golden pagoda that contains a relic of the Buddha. Lunch in a local restaurant. To go up, you take trucks at the base of Mount Kyaikthyio, used to transport pilgrims, who trudge up the winding climb for about 30 minutes. Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel on top of the mountain or halfway (depending on confirmation).
DAY 2 - KYAIKTHYIO - BAGO - YANGON and departure
Breakfast. Descent of the mountain. Departure by private vehicle to visit the ancient capital Bago (ancient Pegu). Lunch in a local restaurant in Bago. Visit of the giant reclining Buddha, “Shwethalyaung” 55m long and 16m high. Return to Yangon. On the way back he will stop at the KyaikPun pagoda, with 4 giant 30m tall Buddhas sitting back to back, and at the "nat" temple for the protection of the guides. Arrival in Yangon and transfer to the international airport.
